Code School Finland is part of the Generation AI project that will educate the “Generation AI” about the defining technology of their era.
We are in good company with top university researchers, stakeholders from intergovernmental organizations, the state authorities, non-governmental organizations, science education initiatives, and local education authorities. This diverse group brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our collaborative efforts.

The project will address three concerns often expressed in relation to AI:
- The weakening feeling of safety and control in a datafield society
- The eroding trust in public authorities, media, and science
- The growing gap between people who have skills and power in using AI technology and those who do not
We believe these challenges are best addressed by educating children about AI-based systems. During the project we will be visiting schools in Finland. We will teach students to build machine learning systems using Generation AI Teachable Machine application.
Unlike similar applications, Generation AI Teachable Machine does not collect any data from users which makes it a perfect solution for schools.
Students must be able to understand how machines learn and make decisions. This knowledge will help them to predict the consequences of often unconscious choices they make online. By building their own machine learning systems they are able to see how easily bias creeps into systems, creating discrimination and inequality. In the course of our school visits, students will also be shown who is managing data on the Internet and how user trust can be abused.
The project is funded by the The Strategic Research Council of the Academy of Finland.
