GameDev

Online teacher-led course for students aged 15+

Create your own classic 3D side scroller game with the world’s most popular gaming platform Unreal Engine 4.

GameDev stands for game development. This online course offers interactive 3D creation, artistic expression and game programming using a professional development platform called Unreal Engine 4.

GameDev online course teaches participants to make a 3D side scroller game with enemies, simple puzzles and multiple levels. This game format is a classic! When video games were first developed, many of them would feature side-scrolling action in which you would control a character in an environment that scrolled to the right as you progressed. Typical examples include Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario. These types of games are still very popular and cover a wide range of genres. Check out examples below:

If participants are not that much into games they can concentrate on the artistic side of creating a 3D project. And there is no better platform than Unreal Engine 4. It is the world’s most open and advanced real-time 3D creation tool. Continuously evolving to serve not only its original purpose as a state-of-the-art game engine, but today also enabling cutting-edge content, interactive experiences, and immersive virtual worlds.
After the camp participants will have the skills needed to make their own 3D game projects.

Learning Outcome

Every participant will design and code their own 3D side scroller game that will implement basic gaming concepts like enemies and multiple levels.
